Fix the Nvidia Control Panel Missing Issue Today

Recently, many Nvidia graphic card users have reported the problem of the control panel going missing. This panel which allows the users to control the properties of the card goes missing from the Start menu and the Desktop context menu and people are getting confused, what is this happening?

It could be a problem of the drivers or this problem also happens when the OS is getting updated. #1 – Restart NVIDIA Service

Whenever any problem occurs on our pc, we try to restart the system and the problem gets solved. We can try this to fix our problem too.  Have a look at the steps for restarting the services.

Step 1: Type services.msc in the run box after opening it. Now, press the enter button.  

Step 2: Now, you will see the Services window opened up. Look for the Nvidia services over here. Restart all of the services that you find.

Now, check whether the panel comes back or not. If not, then better restart the system and check. If still not, then move to the next solution.

There is a possibility of the panel getting hidden at the time when you update the NVIDIA graphics card software. Follow the steps to bring it back.

Step 1: Open the control panel first of all.

Step 2: Now, double click on the NVIDIA Control Panel option.

Step 3: Now, click on View or Desktop menu.

Step 4: Select the Add Desktop Context Menu option from the drop-down.

 Now, see if the panel reappears or not in the Desktop context menu.

This method was provided by Nvidia support so you can try it out and see if the problem gets fixed or not. Have a look at the simple steps to get it done.

Step 1: Navigate to the given location by opening my computer.

Step 2: Now, look for a file named Display.NvContainer in the Display.NvContainer folder. Now, right-click it and click copy.  

Step 3: Now, open run box and type shell: startup for opening the Startup Folder.  

Step 4: Now, you have to paste the copied Display.NvContainer file over here.   

Step 5: Now, right-click the Display.NvContainer file you pasted in Startup folder. Now, you have to select the Properties option.

Step 6: Now, go to the Compatibility tab in the properties window. Now, you have to checkmark the Run this program as administrator option and click OK. 

Now, restart the system and check the status of the problem.

#4 – Update NVIDIA Graphics Driver

Go for updating the graphic drivers if the above method doesn’t work for you. You need to go to the device manager and update the drivers. Just follow the below steps. 

Step 1: Open device manager first of all by searching it in the run box. 

Step 2: Now, expand the Display adapters option over here. Look for NVIDIA graphics card driver. Update it by right-clicking it.

Step 3: This will open up a new window and now you have to click on Search automatically for updated driver software option. It will now start searching for any update and install it on its own. If your drivers are already updated to the latest version then it will inform you that too.  

#5 – Reinstall NVIDIA Graphics Driver

If the problem doesn’t get solved by updating the drivers then better reinstall them. Follow the below steps for doing so.

Step 1: Once again open the device manager and expand the Display adapters option. Now, uninstall the drivers by right-clicking the Nvidia drivers.  

Step 2: Now, after uninstalling the Nvidia drivers, you have to go to NVIDIA – Download Drivers webpage. 

Step 3: Now, you have to select the correct Product Type, Product Series, and Product options as per the configurations of your computer and download the drivers. Install them on your system once they get downloaded.

Now, after restarting the system, check the issue got solved or not.
