Software Testing Hacks to be More Productive

Have you ever wondered why some people achieve so much in their lives while others have either kick-started or earned a fraction? However, the amount of time was the same for everyone. When it comes to the development of software products and conducting complex software testing processes, some of the developers and testers become more successful and bring productivity to the organization. Productivity refers to being able to see the results of the work you do. This is more satisfying when you can see what you are doing has an impact on software quality.

Every single organization operating in the software development industry has the major goal of reaping profits and productivity while providing a product or an app that successfully meets the end-user expectations. End-users are merely concerned about the quality of a product. That is why organizations have to surf an ample amount of time conducting software testing with QA testing tools to make sure the software product quality meets the user requirements.

So how can testers use more time? How can QA Testing tools help? How can you make a bigger impact in the same amount of time, as usual, thereby enhancing your testing career and improving your quality of life?

Let us explain to you four software productivity hacks;

Handling tasks within time – It is utterly important and significant to have control of the processes you are going to work on to be more effective but side by side it’s a reality that you can not have more time to invest. Instead, you have to be very quick and decide what and how you will carry out things within the time limitations that are already set. We often use the terms like “time management” however it may be wrong to say that you are managing because time is not something that can be managed. However, all you can manage is the list of activities or tasks you have, in the time durations you have.

Some of how you can handle your testing tasks without asking for more time is by managing your priorities driven by purpose i.e ponder on the purpose behind your tests; this way you will have a better idea of how to prioritize the time spent on each test activity. What are you testing for? Why? What’s the goal?

Once you have determined the overall purpose to achieve your goals, all you have to do is to organize your daily routine tasks promptly that can help you achieve your goals.

Keep your to-do-list short – One way to get rid of the burdensome situation and focus on the higher priority activities is by keeping your to-do-list short. One best way to make this happen is by cutting the unnecessary tasks from your action list. Take out an hour or two and think about the activities that are most important to be done and the ones that are not so important. You can do this either by making a priority list as well. Those that came at the bottom can be cut out as their impact will not be harmful to the software product. Another way to be productive while not compromising on the time is by avoiding all such things that distract you from your flow state. The state of fluidity is a state of mind in which you will be excited, focused, and immersed in an activity, which prevents you from tracking time and what is happening around you. To achieve the flow state, the interference must be dispersed to zero. These distractions can either be in the form of phone calls, emails, text messages, and interruptions from the surroundings.

Focus! I repeat, Focus! – One of the most common mistakes that software development and software testing teams make is to get distracted by little things and lose their focus on the activities they were indulged in. The best way to not get distracted coming along your path is to avoid procrastination – many people suffer from this terrible habit, but you can train yourself to procrastinate less and less. One way to procrastinate about doing something important is to put it off by crossing off smaller and easier tasks on your to-do list.
